It also left more bricks than the city Government could deal with! Christchurch has been long known for it's rustic and antique buildings, built with bricks in rich hues. So what happened to all these bricks, you may ask? A little bit of good ol' kiwi ingenuity. Four years and nearly 1000 kilometers later, Urban Homes used these bricks to create a new show home. The Hamilton master builders are proud of the use of recycled bricks, saying they "add a touch of character and compliment the other claddings used."

HNCK9261 (1)The roofing is Eurostyle cladding that runs down the walls in certain areas of the home. This black Eurostyle is a natural fit with the rustic Christchurch brick. Adding to the rustic charm is the use of these bricks in the interior as well. This meticulous attention to detail really ties the home together and gives the home a cozy feeling that is somewhat timeless.

Back to the barnyard

Sound Another key feature is the scissor truss ceilings through the main open plan area with a floating cedar ceiling feature. The cedar helps set off this area and also acts as a great acoustic buffer in what would otherwise be a large area. It's also a pretty unique design point of difference. Barn doors are also used in the main area. These share a common track system which is hung by a horse shoe style bracket. All of this compliments this rustic architecturally designed home superbly.
